Membership Terms and Conditions

These Membership Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern membership in the Global Bengali Hindu Platform (“GBHC” or “the Platform”). By applying for or maintaining membership, individuals agree to abide by these Terms and all policies adopted by the Platform from time to time.
1.Purpose of Membership
Membership in the Global Bengali Hindu Platform is intended to unite individuals committed to the preservation of Bengali Hindu heritage, the promotion of community welfare, and the advancement of socio-cultural, educational, and humanitarian initiatives worldwide.
Membership does not confer ownership, legal authority, or representation rights beyond those expressly granted under this document.
2.Eligibility
Membership is open to individuals who:
- Support the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the Platform.
- Agree to abide by the Charter and governing policies.
- Complete the prescribed membership application process.
The Platform reserves the right to approve or decline any membership application at its sole discretion.
3.Categories of Membership
Membership categories may include, but are not limited to:
- General Member – Individual supporters of the Platform.
- Core Working Members – By invitation only
- Youth Member – Individuals below a defined age threshold (as determined by policy).
- Institutional Member – Organizations aligned with the objectives of the Platform
- Honorary Member – Individuals recognized for distinguished service or contribution.
The rights and privileges attached to each category shall be defined in the Platform bylaws or policy documents.
4.Rights and Privileges
Subject to compliance with these Terms, members may be entitled to:
- Participation in events, programs, and Platforms.
- Access to official communications and resources.
- Eligibility to volunteer or serve on committees (subject to selection criteria).
- Voting rights where applicable and defined by category.
The Platform reserves the right to amend or limit privileges as necessary for governance and operational purposes.
5.Duties and Responsibilities
Members agree to:
- Uphold the dignity, unity, and values of the Platform.
- Conduct themselves respectfully in all Platform-related activities.
- Refrain from actions that may harm the reputation or objectives of the Platform.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in their jurisdiction.
- Respect diversity within the community and avoid discriminatory or abusive behaviour.
Failure to adhere to these responsibilities may result in disciplinary action.
6.Code of Conduct
Members shall not:
- Engage in hate speech, incitement to violence, or unlawful activities under the name of the Platform.
- Misrepresent themselves as official spokespersons without authorization.
- Use the Platform’s name, logo, or materials for personal, political, or commercial gain without prior written approval.
The Platform may issue a separate Code of Conduct document providing further guidance.
7.Membership Fees
Membership fees, if applicable, shall be determined by the governing body of the Platform.
- There is no General Membership fees
- UK Core Membership is £200 (by invitation only)
- Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing.
The Platform reserves the right to revise membership fees with reasonable notice.
8.Suspension and Termination
The Platform reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership if a member:
- Violates these Terms or the Code of Conduct.
- Acts in a manner detrimental to the interests of the Platform.
- Provides false or misleading information during application.
Where feasible, the member shall be notified and provided an opportunity to respond before final action is taken.
9.Privacy and Data Protection
- The Platform may collect personal information necessary for membership administration.
- Personal data shall be used solely for organizational purposes and handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
The Platform shall not share member information with third parties without consent, except where required by law.
10.Intellectual Property
All logos, publications, digital platforms, and materials produced by the Platform remain the intellectual property of the Global Bengali Hindu Platform unless otherwise stated.
Members may not reproduce, distribute, or modify such materials without written permission.
11.Limitation of Liability
The Platform shall not be liable for:
- Any personal loss, injury, or damage incurred during participation in events, except where required by law.
- Actions taken independently by members that are not authorized by the Platform.
Participation in activities is voluntary and at the member’s own risk.
12.Amendments
The Platform reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updated Terms shall be published on official platforms and shall take effect upon publication.
Continued membership constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms.
13.Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Platform is legally registered.
14.Acceptance
By submitting a membership application or renewing membership, the applicant acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
